SOLID ART

Relics of functional art hand made from the best materials on earth and built to last forever. I have fun blending alchemy, ancient wisdom, and philosophy into my own style of regal-medieval craftsmanship. Each piece has a story behind it, expressing an idea that i enjoy and feel is worth sharing. I take great care to ensure my tables are not only beautiful but extremely durable. These are meant to be used and handed down for generations so feel free to touch all you want.

If you would like to be notified when future tables are available, please add your email to the list below.

RUBEDO

Featuring a Bubinga top, Black Walnut legs, Oak apron, and Copper leaf inlay. Her shape was inspired by Japanese architecture and American craftsmanship. The word ‘Rubedo’ means ‘Red’ in latin and is used in alchemy to signify its final stage, the Red Stage. This Alchemical achievement happens when matter comes back to life, which is something Woodworking is all about - giving trees a second life. The Rubedo stage happens when opposites unite and signifies that the Great Work is complete, the achievement of the Philosopher’s Stone. Alchemy and woodworking go hand in hand. Turning conscious thoughts into physical objects is at the root of both. Rubedo is a celebration of this dance between inside and outside worlds - the mental and material realms. Her inlay design is a depiction of this separate unity and a reminder of the power we have to play between the two.

PROSPECTOR

Featuring a Claro Walnut top, Black Walnut legs, and 24k gold leaf inlay. This coffee table was inspired by the natural gold veins found in the California mountains. Part of what drew folks out west was the allure of finding gold and the freedom of the wild. That spirit is still very much alive in the Sierra Mountains today, where man continues to find fortune and solace in the rugged natural wilderness. This table was built to capture that Prospector spirit and remind us that adventure still awaits for those brave enough to seek it out!

NOT ALL WHO WANDER ARE LOST

ELIXIR

Featuring a black walnut base, hand forged steel trim, and an acrylic painting top by Nathan Goldsmith. This table is the first collaboration between brothers Daniel and Nathan Goldsmith, and was built to be an entertainment focal point to gather around and indulge in the Elixirs of Life.

In Alchemy, the Elixir of Life is a legendary potion said to grant immortality. It has been sought after for thousands of years and is closely tied to the Philosopher’s Stone - Alchemy’s ultimate attainment. If studied literally, to obtain the Elixir one must figure out how to turn base metals into gold, achieve the Philosopher’s Stone, and then melt it down into the Elixir of Life. Others believe this formula is a metaphor for elevating consciousness. Our bodies are mortal vessels in which our immortal consciousness can evolve. It is possible to awaken from thinking we are simply a physical form (base metal) to remembering we have always been the eternal awareness behind the universe (gold). Studying Alchemy is a study of the Self, and the Elixir of Life is waiting for anyone willing to follow the hero’s journey.
